What is Jobs & Skills WA?

As Western Australia’s economy grows and diversifies, the outlook for jobs is constantly changing. Jobs & Skills WA is the way the State Government, through the Department, prioritises its investment in training to focus on courses that equip people to take up jobs that are, or will be, in high demand. Priorities include apprenticeships, eligible traineeships and priority industry qualifications.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for training under a Job & Skills WA Traineeship, prospective learners must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Registered in the WA Apprenticeship Management System (WAAMS) via an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider.
  • Primary place of residence is in Western Australia (excludes Christmas Island and Cocos Island).
  • Either an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holder of an approved temporary visa subclass (or spouses/dependents that accompany 457 visas holders).
  • Not a prisoner.
  • Not a secondary school student.
  • Above 15 years of age.
  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
