Human Factors – Decision-Making Factors - Adaptive

Description

The electrical industry relies heavily on equipment and systems with automatic monitoring and functions, in combination with supporting personnel with established safety and operational procedures. However, the individual may still be called upon to make sound decisions in order to maintain a safe and secure network. The aim of this module is to provide a better understanding of the principles of decision-making and recognise the features that degrade decision making. It also looks at strategies that maintain effective decision-making and post incident evaluation techniques. Please note, this is a non-accredited course and upon successful completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion – Human Factors – Decision-Making Factors.

In this course, participants will develop the skills and knowledge as stipulated in the following:

  • Describe the principles of decision -making
  • Outline the features that degrade decision-making
  • Identify the strategies that maintain effective decision-making
  • Describe post-incident processes

Target learner group

Operators, staff and contractors in the broader electrical industry. This includes Asset Managers, Generation Control Room Operators, Field Switchers and Field Technicians.
