Consulting Arborists create reports assessing the health and any risks identified to trees. Their reports are used, by diagnosing any defect, to make recommendations to manage the ongoing health of the tree via canopy management, remediation work or habitat development within a legislative and regulatory framework.

Within the Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50524), participants will identify species of trees, examine/assess and perform ground based evaluations, diagnose tree diseases, learn to understand key legislation and use their knowledge to prepare arborist reports for clients.

What will I study in the Diploma of Arboriculture?

To meet the requirements for the Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50520) you need to satisfactorily complete 10 units.

You must demonstrate your competency in 8 core units plus 2 elective units.

What can I expect in the Diploma of Arboriculture?

RelyOn Australia’s Diploma of Arboriculture course is delivered via a combination of face to face sessions as well as online synchronous training via Microsoft Teams video meetings with your trainer and other participants.

As this qualification will involve a combination of face to face training alongside online synchronous training, it will be expected participants will have a device (preferably a computer/laptop) with access to the internet, and possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
  • Able to upload/download documents, photos and video files
  • Know how to send/access emails
  • Capacity to participate in online video meetings/classes via Microsoft Teams

The course contains a combination of written and practical assessments as well as assignment work to prepare you for the day to day requirements of a consulting arborist.

Prerequisites

To commence in the Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50524), participants must have gained competency in the following units, or their equivalent:

  • Implement a tree maintenance program (AHCARB314)
  • Perform pruning operations (AHCARB316)
  • Identify trees (AHCARB323)

If you have previously completed Certificate III in Arboriculture (AHC30820), you may be eligible for credit for the above core units.

The Diploma of Arboriculture (AHC50524) is usually completed within 18 months but may take longer if non-standard electives are chosen.
