Ed Sellwood
Power Systems Operations
Ed is an experienced Power System Operations professional. Ed’s operational knowledge is earned via his control room and operations experience, at Queensland's Transmission network owner PowerLink, and Distribution Network Control at Essential Energy in NSW.
Ed is passionate about educating the power systems community to enable confident decision making in a world characterised by increasing challenge and uncertainty bought about by an evolving power supply mix, unprecedented integration of intermittent renewable generation, increase in severe weather patterns and network outages, and the inevitability of both an aging workforce and infrastructure.

A strong advocate for software simulation tools, Ed has solid knowledge of the North American power industry and availability of software simulation platforms for training, diagnostics and planning. He supports the application of grid simulation tools to enable operators to grasp the broader principles and practices of power grid dynamics and experience emergency operation conditions without the risks of interacting with a live power system including training and testing for communication and other protocols.
